iPhone

Apple’s new iPhone is ridiculously cool and I’d give some serious thought to running out and buying one (once it becomes available) if not for a couple of things:

Pricing. $500 US for the basic model, $600 US for more memory, plus a 2 year service contract. There is no way I would spend that much on such a device. Yes, it has music and video support and a (presumably) much better user interface than anything else out there, but my current phone, which came free with my service plan, works just fine for me. Push the pricing closer to $200 US and I’ll think about it.

Cingular only. You can only use the device with Cingular/AT&T. Um, no thanks. I’m happy with my current provider. In all the reviews I’ve seen (and comments from friends who have had Cingular in the past concur with this), Cingular regularly lands near the bottom. Make an unlocked version of the iPhone, please.
