Weather
I’m not sure what the heck is going on with the weather around here, but it’s been really beautiful for over a week and, if the forecast is to be believed, it will continue into the upcoming weekend. Huzzah.

Contempt
Your daily dose of outrage:
The Iran Plans - Bush wants to nuke Iran.
Whistle-Blower Outs NSA Spy Room - AT&T has been allowing the government to spy on you, without a warrant, since 2003.
Why the Wingnuts Hate Plan B - the Religious Right continues to block approval of Plan B, even though it is not abortion.
Love your country. Fear your government.

Tiktaalik
A big discovery in paleontology has been making news over the last few days - Tiktaalik roseae. Bearing the likeness of an alligator (the first thing I thought of when I saw the skull), it may provide many clues regarding the transition of life from water to land. Exciting stuff.

Two-faced
Come on, does this really surprise anyone? - Dan Gillmor commenting on the latest news that Bush may have authorized the leak which revealed Valarie Plame’s role in the CIA.
And I’m sure that leak wouldn’t have been in retaliation for the op-ed written by Plame’s husband, Joseph Wilson IV, which cast doubt on the idea that Iraq was trying to buy nuclear material from Niger. Heavens, no.
The New York Times has a good write-up of the events.

Humanity
You know, it really pisses me off that when, as I was driving past a gas station on my way home from work, I noticed that gasoline was $2.49 a gallon, my first thought was “wow, that’s pretty cheap”.
Also, I’m really glad I get so much spam in my comments; otherwise, it would be difficult to keep up on all the latest pharmaceutical breakthroughs, medical lawsuits and sexual fetishes.

Knowledge
Yes, kids, National Library Week is here once again (April 2-8). Whether or not you’re not a regular patron of your local library, take a moment to reflect on the fact that public libraries, at least in this country, are one of the few institutions that have (so far) managed to keep the ever-watchful eye of The Man at bay. Even though I’m sure that millions of terrorists, anarchists and other deviants are using our libraries to further the causes of EVIL, the 1st Amendment still guarantees (for now) the right to freedom of expression. Let’s keep it this way. Knowledge is power.
