Well, it’s over. Kerry has conceeded the election to Bush. It’s truly staggering to realize how many ignorant people there are in this country.
I hope the next four years drag this country down so low that the general populace has no choice but to get off their asses and start educating themselves. Wake up, people. Things aren’t going to get any better. Rights and freedoms will continue to erode. The rich will get richer and everyone else will get poorer. Dan Gillmor echoes my thoughts much more eloquently than I can. Sadly, I now find myself hoping that the next four years will provide type of event necessary to cause the spark that finally ignites this country into revolution.
In parting, I’d just like to remind the billions of people on this planet who will continue to be alienated and bullied by the US government that half of us in this country can’t stand the asshole who sits in the Oval Office. He’s not our president.

May God help us all–we’re sure going to need it.

Give them enough rope and they hang themselves. We can hope, at least. Honestly, though, this campaign was Kerry’s to lose. And he lost it. The party as a whole needs to get up off its ass and stand for something again, and maybe this is the wakeup call that will make that happen.

For what it’s worth, I’ve seen some comments around the ‘net comparing this administration and election to Nixon’s second time around. If anything, maybe there’s some hope things will turn out the same way.
And yeah, sure would be nice to see the Democrats get a spine. On the flip side, it would also be nice to see those who are actually Republicans and not Neocons grow a spine as well and stand up for what they believe in.
